CAD DRAFTING
Green Build Exhibit
Challenges: This project involved not only using a new material for our company but also creating an overhead slatted awning, which added complexity.
Solution: Due to the large volume and variety of cut pieces, attention to detail was crucial. I used PVC tubing to ensure even spacing of the slat wall. To add rigidity, I designed a CNC-cut plywood beam that spanned the length of the back wall. Additionally, I developed overlapping, offset cardboard slats to effectively support the long awning span.
Custom Display
Challenges: The client requested an oversized pegboard wall to support their products, a freestanding logo, and custom wood slat walls.
Solution: Once our production team selected a specific dowel rod for the “pegs,” I created the CNC files for the pegboard. The freestanding logo was supported by a large steel plate with rods, and I designed pocketed letters to slide over these rods. For the slat walls, I made them modular and optimized the design to ensure maximum material efficiency.
Foldable Cardboard Kiosk
Challenge: The design was conceptually unique but lacked structural integrity, requiring creative engineering to add stability while preserving the original vision.
Solution: I enhanced the base’s sturdiness by strategically removing specific slats and replacing them with a stronger support structure. I also developed a support for the monitor mount and designed a notched brace to support and space the fanned header. Despite numerous engineering modifications, the essence of the original design was successfully maintained.
